Today I feature and introduce to you a beautiful and inspiring woman who's blog I started following about a year and a half ago. She has a fine taste for vintage, a beautiful home, a beautiful daughter and talented hubby, an inspiring passion for yoga and so much more. I love her gentle way of writing, her honesty, her beautiful photography and lately I really love the artwork that she has started exploring and selling in one of her Etsy shops. I knew from previous postings that she was a Green Smoothie Drinker but I could not resist wanting to include her here during the Green Smoothie Challenge after her post titled: "if I could gift one thing to myself everyday" in regards to drinking Green Smoothies.
Please welcome the enchanting Heather from Beauty That Moves.
Where did you first hear about Green Smoothies and what inspired you to add them into your diet? A couple of years ago I started dipping my toes into the world of raw food living. Green Smoothies are liquid gold in the raw community, I saw mention of them everywhere. I was most inspired by Kris Carr - her story, her passion, her wellness warrior path in life. Green smoothies were (and still are) a big part of her mindfully led life. For a specific how-to, I think I referred to some videos on You Tube by Karen Knowler. She's wonderful too! What are the benefits that you and your family have experienced since adding Green Smoothies to your diet? Green Smoothies are definitely on our deserted island list. You know, "what would you take to a deserted island?" Definitely on that list. The benefits we've seen are brighter skin, perfect digestion, clearer thinking, happier mood, less craving for sweets, slimmer body. Truly, all of this and more. Green smoothies are brilliant. What's your favorite Green Smoothie recipe? Oh, I am such a simple girl. I keep kale and/or collard greens chopped and ready to go in the refrigerator. Each morning I throw 4 big handfuls into the blender with a chopped apple, chopped pear, a handful of frozen strawberries, sometimes a drizzle of maple syrup and enough water to blend (usually 3-4 cups). That's it! Where do you get your produce? We are very fortunate to live only two blocks from a wonderful food co-op. This means fresh, organic (local in season) produce is never hard to find. We are very spoiled in this regard, but for what's it's worth, we count this as one of our greatest blessings in life. Aside from our co-op we do grow some our greens and other veggies as well. We also have a fantastic Farmers' Market and have joined a CSA this year. (CSAs have been slow to gain momentum in our area, but this year I see quite a few more!) Between the co-op, local farmers, and our own backyard we are very well-supplied for which I am truly grateful. Thank you so very much Heather for sharing your Green Smoothie experience with us. I'm encouraged to further explore the CSA's in our neck of the woods this year. Another great Green Smoothie post that Heather wrote can be found here. Heather's journey can be found on her blog, or you can visit her Etsy shops, Mayberries Vintage for an incredible selection of beautiful and rare treasures or Beauty That Moves for original artwork and other handmade goodies.
