Hi I'm Suzanne and I'm the Enchanted Chameleon. I've always described myself as a chameleon. I've always been interested in lots of things, I've always tried lots of things and I've always been okay at lots of things. I've always blended wherever life took me. A few years ago I think I finally got tired of being okay at everything. I wanted to know exactly what I was great at and I wanted to just focus on those things.
Originally I started this blog as a raw food blog on Facebook. I have suffered with many types of food intolerances and allergies most of my life and decided to finally take the plunge into raw foods and to keep myself accountable I documented it. I had no idea that the rest of my life would change. I discovered the blogging community and many blogs that I still read to this day from this little 2 and a half month experiment on Facebook. Worlds of homeschooling, sewing, crafting, homesteading, food, parenting, knitting. In these blogs I saw a life that I had always dreamed of and had gotten off path from a long time ago. It was from this discovery that Enchanted Chameleon was born.
I made a list of all the things I loved, things I've always wanted to try and things I've been wanting to get back into. I dove in. I knitted and knitted the same baby hat for over a month. I sewed a small Christmas present for my son. I started taking private guitar lessons. I signed up for an advanced mastery acting class. The things that worked, stuck. The things that could wait, did. That was in 2008.
Present day, I am living most of my dreams. Most of my free time is spent knitting, sewing and crafting for my home, friends and family and even for purchase. We have started growing our own vegetables and dreaming of our own farm. I have discovered some talent in photography and am experimenting with portraits for families and friends.
My biggest dream that I am currently living is the Juice Caboose. It is the last thing I expected to get out of experimenting for a few years with raw foods but it is one of the best things that I have ever done with myself. After doing raw foods every which way: the right way, the wrong way, the over fed, the under nourished, I found that my most favourite thing about raw foods is the juices and the smoothies. I came across a tiny little juice cart in the UK once during many of my online searches and my dream to own my own was born. Finally after 3 years of dreaming, planning, plotting and then actually building the Juice Caboose opened in May 2011 at the Maplewood Farm Sheep Festival. I'd never been happier to be standing in front of a juicer and a blender, chopping up fruit. And now that is what I do every weekend since.
One thing you will quickly discover about me is that I put myself out on a limb a lot. I've learned to live in the uncomfortable places in order to grow and change. I also speak quite honestly about where I'm at. I typically don't sugar coat my experiences with positive thinking unless I'm actually thinking positively. I admire many bloggers and people out there but I have found many frustrations from comparing myself and my life to what bloggers actually choose to share. I often have to remind myself of that. That especially drives my writing. Not to say that I'm not positive or don't prefer to be. I just believe that 'a thing is what it is' and it won't be anything else until I've experienced it enough as it is.
Other things that enchant me:
- unschooling
- Waldorf education
- movies, theatre and musicals
- gluten free diet
- historical fictions
- living green
- interior decorating
- yoga
- thrifting/antiquing
And that's me in a nut shell. No longer blending in but now blending up a storm.
Welcome. I hope you enjoy.
Suzanne
